This drill focuses on the proper alignment and positioning at the pitcher’s balance point. The balance beam will challenge the athlete to maintain balance over the balls of his feet. However, the drill can also be done on flat-ground depending on comfort level. The balance beam provides instant feedback, since poor balance obviously leads to the athlete falling off the board. The pitcher should hold himself in the balance point for a minimum of 3 seconds each repetition focusing on the checkpoints provided in the pictures below. Repetition times can be increased to challenge the athlete as they improve their balance.

I think it’s really interesting how you don’t post clips of high level throwers on your website, and are trying to convince people what “proper” mechanics are. Very, very interesting. I think you should check out some .gifs of nolan ryan, tim lincecum, sandy koufax…pretty much any 95 mph+ mlb pitcher you can think of. I think you’ll find some pretty massive contradictions with what you’re talking about on this site. Just a suggestion.

At 5’11 165 pounds I have thrown 95 mph (stalker) and 96 mph (jugs), mainly by fine tuning my mechanics. I have also had the opportunity of being around a few of the best pitching coaches in baseball at various points in my life.
If you had actually read through my website you would understand its mission. It is dedicated to helping (young) pitchers build a solid foundation. Please explain to me how a little league pitcher will benefit from watching tim lincecum (who I played against in college) pitch?
Again, the drills on this site are dedicated to helping young athletes develop a foundation. I’ll leave the higher level concepts to you and your team of writers…you seem to have some great credentials.
